The Best Local Brews
Springtime in Austin is a really wonderful thing. The weather is in that sweet spot of not-too-hot, not-too-cold so it’s the perfect timeto sit outside, enjoy the wildflowers and sip a nice, cold beer. Austin is a leader in the craft beer world so there’s plenty to choose from, but here’s a few of our local favorites to try out.
Live Oak HefeWeizen
Live Oak Brewing Company is one of Austin’s best known brewerys so of course they’d make the list. Their HefeWeizen is a great light beer with few hops and just a hint of banana, clove and vanilla. It is perfect for patio sipping and enjoying the fresh air.
Austin Beerwork’s Fire Eagle IPA
This amber colored beer is a perfect springtime drink which features a nice, citrus taste of lemon and grapefruit. Hang out by the pool and enjoy one of Austin’s favorite (and award winning) IPA’s.
(512)Brewing Pecan Porter
If any beer could be called “cozy” it’s this one. With hints of pecan, chocolate and caramel, (512)’s Pecan Porter is a local favorite. Grab a six pack and enjoy it around a nice firepit under the stars.
Pedernales Brewing Lobo Negro
For lovers of dark beer, the Lobo Negro is a great choice. Made in the Pedernales Brewery just east of Austin, this German style pilsner has hints of coffee and chocolate pairs perfectly with some good bowl of chili or stew on a cool night.
