With the winter weather on its way out, we’re excited to bike on over to some of the new breweries in Austin! In case you missed it, there are several that have recently opened or are about to open. Here are a few that we’re super excited about it!
Family Business Beer Company
Probably the most notable that has been covered recently is Family Business Beer Company. Several Austin publications have covered the opening of this much-anticipated brewery for the fact that actor Jensen Ackles just so happens to be part of the family. You might recognize him most recently from the hit TV show “Supernatural,” but some of us know him well from his few years on the long-running soap opera “Days of Our Lives.” Literally a family business, this brewery made its opening debut this month and had a great turnout. Another plus? On the property is a food truck run by Jep and Jessica Robertson of “Duck Dynasty.” Needless to say, we’re definitely excited to see how well they know beer/food, but it doesn’t hurt that we might run into some famous faces on the property.
Hi Sign Brewing
While this brewery opened in early 2017, we haven’t been able to make our way to Hi Sign Brewing just yet. It’s definitely on our list for this year as we’ve heard nothing but good things so far and their current list of beers sound more than appetizing. This brewery originated in Montana and made its way to Austin, surrounding itself with beer connoisseurs who would appreciate true craft beer (like the making of their New England IPA.)
St. Elmo Brewing
Another 2017 opening, St. Elmo Brewing settled and opened in an up-and-coming spot called The Yard in south Austin, which is also home to a very Austiny coffee shop (which offers one of THE BEST grilled cheeses,) a whiskey distillery, a winery and several other Austin business like Juiceland and Music Lab. Named for its location off St. Elmo, this happening brewery has a fun little patio that we can’t wait to take advantage of in the coming months.
Southern Heights
Located on the east side of I-35, Southern Heights opened up in November 2017 and we’ve been dying to make our way over there. They currently have eight beers on tap and they pride themselves on not limiting their beers to one particular style. They take pride in making all varieties of beer. They plan to distribute eventually but for now, they’re brews can be found in their taproom only.
