I am on a mission to organize the finest breweries in Austin, Texas to participate in the tours that Bike and Brew ATX has to offer. My goal is to introduce locals and guests to the best hand crafted beers my city has to offer. In doing so, I hope that beer enthusiasts and outdoor lovers can bond over fresh cold brews.
My quest to sign up new breweries isn't always easy. Networking takes a lot of patience. However, I have the luxury of tasting some of the most incredible beers in Texas. It is an amazing feeling to get such positive feed back from the breweries that are participating thus far, which brings me to my most recent news and appreciation. As of last week Oskar Blues Austin reached out to me about joining the tour! It was unexpected and exciting! Having such a well known brewery reach out to me before I could even contact them was an impactful moment. It meant to me that I am doing the right thing, and that the breweries in our community can see the positive impacts bike tours can bring to their brewery.
Oskar Blues pioneered the canning of craft beer for outdoor enthusiasts. They are based out of Colorado and have some tasty beers; especially Dale's Pale Ale and Pinner Throwback IPA. Oskar Blues is now opening up an incredible spot in North Austin. Thanks to their social media director, Dan Wiersema, the photos I have seen of the taproom are amazing. They have a state of the art sound system and 350 person capacity in the taproom which will feature live music. In the future they very well may be one of Austin's premier mid-sized music venues.
The good news doesn't end there. I can happily introduce 4th Tap Brewery Cooperative to the Northern Community "Loop." This amazing brewery produces some fine crafts, including a newly discovered favorite, The Renewal, a tamarind wheat beer. Being a cooperative, if any of their employees work over a year they become an owner. The love and passion for their brewery shines through every person I met including Peter, Seth, D and Erin. Visitors can sit in the tap room to enjoy a glass or walk around in the brewery to see where all the magic happens. The Brewery Cooperative is completely open, and if you just happen to wander around the back you will discover a full-sized wrestling rink where the group Party World Rasslin (PWR) performs events that are not to be missed.
I am so excited to have these two breweries participating up north. However, they only make up half of the tour. Now, I wait. Hopefully soon I can introduce the other half.
